Madison Beer has really come into her own since parting ways with Island Records and becoming an indie artist. The 19-year-old’s debut EP, As She Pleases, was warmly received and she landed an unexpected radio hit with “Home With You.” Expectations will be even higher for “Hurts Like Hell.” Produced by The Invisible Men (Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” and Bebe Rexha’s “No Broken Hearts”) and featuring Offset, the catchy breakout anthem has all the ingredients of a major hit. Including an eye-popping video.
The rising star, who co-wrote the treatment with director Mike Harris, plays an avenging angel of sorts in the delightfully twisted clip. “I had such a clear vision of what I wanted to do for this video and it was such a rewarding experience working alongside [the director] and having him help take my ideas and make them a reality,” Madison says. “I was inspired by witchcraft and felt that it perfectly fit with the theme of the song, which is about teaching someone a lesson.” Watch the spooky opus up top.
